ADVERTISING ON FACEBOOK

Marketing and Advertising

When it comes to marketing, there are two things we know for sure:

  1. You have to do it.
  2. It either costs time or money.

The cost factor is not a deterrent if you’re a billion dollar business. But if you’re one in the tens of millions of small businesses across the country, it becomes a bigger consideration. This means every penny of your ad budget needs to make an impact.

So what do you do?

Turn to cheaper ad inventory that can target your audience most effectively — Facebook. Facebook Advertising is one of the most affordable and effective ways to market your business. In this section we’ll walk you through the setup of Facebook Dynamic Ads.

About Dynamic Ads

Dynamic ads look exactly like other single or carousel image ads displayed on Facebook, Instagram and Audience Network. However, instead of creating an additional ad for each of your products, you create an ad template that automatically rotates images and details from your product feed for things you’d like to advertise. To achieve that automatic process successfully, Dynamic Ads use your Facebook pixel or SDK to show ads to people who have already shown interest in your business by taking actions you care about on your site. You can also retarget people who have taken an action on your website. They will show up as product recommendations on Facebook, Instagram, Audience Network, or Messenger.

Benefits

  • Scale your ads creation efforts: Promote all of your products with unique ad creative without configuring each individual ad.
  • Find new potential customers: Set up your campaigns once and keep reaching new people with the right product at the right time.
  • Show the right products: Show the most relevant products from your catalog based on products people viewed on your website or in your app.

Requirements

  • A Facebook pixel and or/ Facebook SDK on your storefront site.
  • A product catalog to show the right products, and details like pricing and availability.

Let’s get started!

LAUNCHING A FACEBOOK DYNAMIC AD

Getting Started

To begin creating your dynamic ad:

  1. Go to Ads Manager. We recommend using Ads Manager if you’re new to Facebook ads.
  2. Create your campaign by selecting your marketing object. Choose “Product Catalog Sales”.
  3. Create your ad set by choosing the product set that you want to advertise, and then set up your audience, placement, budget and schedule.

From here, you can now set up the creative for your dynamic ad.

Creating a Dynamic Ad

You can choose between creating a carousel style ad or a single-image ad.

Create a Dynamic Ad with Carousel

  1. At the ad level, select the Facebook Page and Instagram account (optional) representing the business you’re advertising.
  2. Select “Carousel”.
  3. Click to check the box next to the following options:
  • Add a card with a fixed image at the beginning: If you want to show a unique image that represents your brand before showcasing your products, choose this option.
  • Add a card at the end of your Page profile picture: If you want to add a card at the end of the carousel that links to your Page, choose this option.
  1. Add a “See More” URL to the ad. When people reach the end of your carousel, they can interact with the card to go to the URL you specify.

Note: It’s recommended you enter your website URL, or the URL to a section on your website associated with the product set you choose.

  1. If you have a fixed card at the beginning of your carousel, choose an image, video or slideshow for the card.
  2. Enter the copy for your ad in the Text box.
  3. Update the headline and News Feed Link Description for your product set. By default, these are automatically created based on the product set you choose.
  4. (Optional) Add a call-to-action button to your ad.
  5. (Optional) Add a deep link unique to each item that appears in your ads. Deep links provide more control over which section you take people to when they select an item in your ad on their computer
  6. When you’re ready, publish your ad by clicking “Place Order”.

Create a Dynamic Ad with a Single Image

  1. Select the Facebook Page and Instagram account (optional) representing the business you’re advertising.
  2. Select “Single Image”
  3. Enter the text, headline and News Feed Link Description for your product set.
  4. (Optional) Add a call-to-action button to your ad.
  5. (Optional) Add a deep link unique to each item that appears in your ads. Deep links provide more control over which section you take people to when they select an item in your ad on their computer.
  6. When you’re ready, publish your ad by clicking “Place Order”.
